School Dress
Each student shall make it a habit to look neat and well groomed at all
times. Each student shall strive to look his/her best by the practice of
cleanliness and attractive grooming. Extremes in dress and grooming shall be
avoided. Attire or grooming that interrupts or distracts from the
educational process or causes embarrassment to the student or others is
inappropriate and will not be tolerated. The building principal has the
authority to decide whether or not the clothing and method of dress are
appropriate.
Standardized Dress Code - Sumner County Elementary Schools
The following shall not be worn to school:
Biker shorts
Cut off jeans that are frayed or pockets showing
Saggy / sagging pants
Spandex or body shirts
Leggings and leotards unless with an appropriate length top or dress
Suggestive slogans, pictures or advertisements for tobacco or alcoholic
beverages on clothes
Caps, hats, scarves or bandannas
Strapless dresses or blouses
Spaghetti strap dresses
Bare midriff, halters or tank tops
Shoes with cleats or Flip-Flop styled shoes
Clothing related to gangs
Extreme hair color
In addition, the following guidelines shall be
enforced:
Mesh may be worn with T-shirts under
Garments must cover the shoulders
Sleeveless blouses or shirts' under arm opening should not be large enough
to show chest area
Jewelry must not be distracting / disruptive or unsafe
No Flip-Flop styled shoes (shoes with a thong style tongue) - Shoes with
backs or sandals with a back strap are preferred (Tennis/Gym Shoes are
required for PE and are good for everyday wear because of recess time)
Pants/Shorts with words/slogans written across the bottom or seat of the
pants should not be worn to school
Penalties:
Change or go home
